Henry De Brot

Background

Henri Alexandre De Brot was born at Brot, Switzerland c1835. [1] With a passport dated 31 January 1853[2] he sailed to Australia on the Earl of Charlemont which was shipwrecked off Barwon Head on 18 June 1853. Henri married Ellen Norris. He died on 21 October 1909 at Broomfield.[3]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

De Brot was in Ballarat at the time of the Eureka Stockade.[4] His obituary states “He immediately joined the ranks of the diggers and was in Ballarat when the Eureka riot occurred.”

Post 1854 Experiences

In 1868 Henry De Brot of Sebastopol at 25 shares in Young Albion Quartz and Alluvial Gold Mining Company.[5]

Henry Alexander De Brot became a naturalised Australian on 07 October 1994.[6]
