Edward Riley

Background

Riley was born at Ballyborough, Co. Cavan, Ireland on 30 June 1831. He was a private in the 40th Regiment (Reg No 2752), having enlisted at Dublin on 20 June 1849. He arrived in New South Wales on 13 July 1852. [1]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Riley was probably a participant in the Eureka Stockade battle. [2]

Post 1854 Experiences

Riley was discharged at Melbourne on 23 January 1860.[3]
