Obituary

The late William Wood, who died at the Kalgoorlie Government hospital, aged 78 years, was in his youthful days, one of the pioneers of Sailor's Gully, Bendigo. He also took his stand in the Eureka Stockade. He was well known as a prospector in Kalgoorlie and Yundamindera. With his son, Mr R. H. Wood, and Mr Jack Stephens, he pegged the Hannan's Reward, and took up the Potosi at Yundamindera.


WOOD: On June 1, at Kalgoorlie William, dearly beloved husband of Ann Wood, and father of R. H., W. J., and H. H. Wood, and Mrs J Deimel (Adelaide), Mrs G Brealey (Kaniva), Mrs F Burgess (Lillimur), Mrs G Williams (Narrocoorte), Mrs J Fox (Kalgoorlie), aged 78 years. (interred Methodist portion Kalgoorlie Cemetery).[1]
