William Haines was born in 1810 and died in 1866.

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

William Haines was on the Select Committee reporting Upon Ballaarat [i.e. Ballarat] riots - Bentley's Hotel.[1]

Post 1854 Experiences

William Haines was a member of the committee that drafted the new constitution in 1853, and served as Colonial Secretary from December 1854. He was the first Premier of Victoria when the Constitution came into force in November 1855.
