Background

William Hanover Emmermann was born in Petersburg, Russia. His name can also be spelt Emmarmann. [1]

An unpublished diary makes reference to Emmerman as the pikeman whose terrior would not leave his side after Emmerman’s death, although according to Peter Lalor the pikeman could have been Edward Thonen.[2]

He died aged 20 years and was buried at Ballarat on 03 December 1854.[3]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854
