Background

Thomas Turner married Lydia Mullet in Adelaide in 1853. They had a child, Alice Marion born at Magpie, Ballarat in November 1855. It was said Lydia “went away” with the women and children to hide from the fighting. [1]

Thomas Turner died in November 1917 and is buried at Buninyong Cemetery. [2]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

According to oral history Thomas was an eyewitness at the time of Eureka. [3]

Post 1854 Experiences

Turner lived at Ballarat, and was recorded on the 1855 Electoral Roll, under the electoral qualification of Miner’s Right. [4]
