Background
Thomas Rowlands was born in 1822 at Wales. He married Elizabeth McLean and the couple lived in Plank Road (late known as Main Road or Geelong Road,[1]
Goldfields Involvement, 1854
According to family history Thomas Rowlands injured himself during the night curfew where no lights were allowed on the Ballarat goldfield. He was badly injured after tripping over a dog chain on the way back to his tent. HIs wife nursed him all night without being able to see the extend of his injuries.
