Background
Charles and Roger both arrived in Sydney, Australia in 1837 on the Success, born 1823 and 1826 respectively.
Roger Pitt married Anne Quin on 29 July 1844, Hobart Town, Van Diemen's Land, Reg #1194.47 Roger's wife was Anne Pitt who was a former convict in Van Diemen's Land Tasmania. She received a ticket of leave around 1845.[1] Roger Pitt (passenger number 181)aged 22 years and Charles Pitt (passenger number 154) aged 19 years departed Tasmania aboard the vessel Platina in 1845.[2] Charles and Roger both arrived in Sydney, Australia in 1837 on the Success, born 1823 and 1826 respectively.
Emigrated from Van Diemen's Land to Geelong. From there the family travelled to Ballarat, where their daughter Jane Pitt attended school at the Catholic Church St Alipius on the Eureka Diggings on 11 March 1854.

Ellen was a tailoress, also Carlton. They ran a Grocery shop which was declared insolvent in 1884
Roger is buried in Melb Gen Cemetery with Ellen Jones, Thomas Jones and Esther Jones.
When he married Eliza Christmas he was living in Little Lons Street Melb. DEATH: Dc 12869 1889 DEATH: Died in Elizabeth street Melbourne, an inquest was held and found he died of disease of the heart. At this time, 1889, he was living with his daughter Mary Ann Green in Balaclava.
