Roger Pitt was born in Tiverton, Devon, England to Samuel Pitt and Ann Hutchings/Hutchins. Charles and Roger both arrived in Sydney, Australia in 1837 on the Success, born 1823 and 1826 respectively.
Roger Pitt married Anne Quin on 29 July 1844, Hobart Town, Van Diemen's Land, Reg #1194.47 Roger's wife was Anne Pitt who was a former convict in Van Diemen's Land Tasmania. Jane Pitt the daughter of Roger and Anne Pitt, attended St Alipius School in Ballarat East on 11 March 1854 when she was 11 years old.[3]
From Ballarat Roger and Anne Pitt went to the Bullarook goldfields Creswick, then Daylesford then California Gully Bendigo.
Between 1872 and 1886 moved to Richmond, Melbourne.
