Goldfields Involvement, 1854
McIndoe "came to Australia with his parents in 1852, and went on the goldfields at Ballarat. While there he was in the Eureka Stockade Riot, and helped to disguise the leader, Peter Lalor, by shaving off his beard and hiding him in a digger's hole, escaping capture by the soldiers by helping to attend to the wounded. He later selected land at Dean and engaged in farming until his death. He had a splendid tenor I voice, and was in much demand as a singer in those early days, when he was once was the recipient of a gold...@"[1]

McIndoe was residing at Ballarat when he signed the Benden Hassell Petition in 1856.[2]
