Background

Richard Smith was a miner on the Eureka Lead in 1854. [1]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Richard Smith was asleep when the fighting started at the Eureka Stockade on 03 December 1854. He witnesses seeing the insurgents fleeing for their lives, running all over the place.[2]
