Richard Smith gave evidence at the 1855 Goldfield Commission. He was a digger in Ballarat in December 1854, and was in the Stockade on the evening of 02 December 1854. He had drunk too much and was asleep when the battle first started. He was wounded in the leg, and after the battle gave himself up to the troopers.
