Ralph Gray was a businessman who hoped to open a store in Ballarat. When application was made Joh D'Ewes requested a one third share in his profits.[1]

Gray was a witness examined during the report of the Board appointed to enquire into circumstances connected with the riot at Ballarat, and the burning of James Bentley's Eureka Hotel. [2] He highlighted the amount of corruption at Eureka.[3]
