Background

Patrick O’Day was born around 1826 in Ballingary, Tipperary, Ireland and was in the British Army. He married Mary Wall in 1854. Patrick O’Day died in May 1906 and was buried at the Ballaarat New Cemetery from his residence in Humffray Street.[1]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

O’Day was a baker[2] who trained the pikemen at the Eureka Stockade but was absent during the battle on 03 December 1854 as his wife was due to give birth to their child. [3] William was born at Ballarat in 1855. [4]

Post 1854 Experiences

O'Day became a businessman, being a baker and publican. [5]
