Background
Goldfields Involvement, 1854
Patrick Hynott was a private in the 40th regiment. He saw John Fenwick in the Eureka Stockade. During a witness statement Hynott said Fenwick had on a pair of red drawers. He was on the right hand of the tent, armed with a fowling piece. He was very busy. Afterwards saw him a prisoner in the Camp. Saw Josephs with a pike in his hand looking over the stockade at the time. Witness fired at him when he saw him. An order was given to fix bayonets and troops charged. [1]
