Background

Patrick Callinan was born in 1832, Ireland. Callinan was the cousin of John Hanrahan. Callinan married Bridget Coffey at St Alipius' Ballarat on 21 February 1860.[1]

At the age of 72 Callinan died in Collingwood in 1902 of Miner’s Phthisis. Bridget Ann Callinan Micahel Callinan and Patrick Callinan are buried in the same grave.[2], and was buried at Boroondara Cemetery on 20 November 1902.[3]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Callanan had a bayonet wound between the two shoulders, and a cut under the left breast, which was received during the Eureka Stockade battle and is listed among the wounded by Peter Lalor.

Post 1854 Experiences

After finishing with mining Callinan farmed at Bungaree.[4]
