Background

John Hanson was born around 1825 at Lincoln, England.[1] John Hanson married Jane Sloane on 5 November 1851 at Christ Church, Geelong. [2]

John died on 5 December 1873, [3] and is buried in Colac Cemetery.[4]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

It was reported in the Colac paper at the time of her death on 28 August 1909 that Jane Hanson was present at the Eureka uprisings. As she was married well before the Eureka encounters, it is presumed that her husband was also present.[5]
