Background

James Wells was born in Calais, France on 15 February 1843. He sailed to Australia with his parents, Thomas and Sarah Wells,on the Harpley in 1848.[1]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

As an eleven year old James Wells claimed to have watched the Eureka Stockade from a nearby tree.[2]

Post 1854 Experiences

James Later moved to Barry's Reef.[3]
