Gabriel Nase
Gabriel Ludlow Nase arrived in Victoria in 1852. He followed the gold discoveries including Maryborough, Dunolly, Creswick and Ballarat. He was believed to have been present during the Eureka Stockade[1]
Post 1854
Gabriel Nase settled at Ullina, a small rural area between Clunes and Smeaton where he established the pastoral property, Clover Hill Estate. Rather than concentrating on ‘pastoral pursuits’he concentrated on local mines and was on the board of directors of nearly the whole of the early alluvial companies on the Berry Lead,’ including the major shafts Australasian, Ristori, and Berry Consols.[2]
