Francesco Rappacioli

Background
Rappacioli was born in 1831 at Piacenza, Italy.[1] and married Margaret Treacey (from Ireland) in 1861.[2] He died in 1906 in New South Wales, [3] and is buried at Moama Cemetery.[4]
Goldfields Involvement, 1854
It is believed that Rappacioli was present at the Eureka Stockade on 02 December 1854, but had left and gone home by the time of the attack on the Stockade on the morning of 03 December 1854. [5]
Post 1854 Experiences
Francesco Rappaciolli had land in Daylesford near the Stoney Creek Falls, next to Giovanni Giani. [6] There were six children in the Rappaciolli family. Five were born at Daylesford, and Margaret was born at Echuca after the family moved there.[7]
Francesco was a sponsor at the St Peter’s Daylesford christening of William Bersica's son in 1864. In 1866, while living at Daylesford. Rappaciolli donated 1 shilling 6 pence to the funds for the relief of the wounded, and the families of the wounded, after Italy’s wars of independence.[8]
In 1871, under the spelling of 'Francesco Repicholi', a Tunnel Claim (App. No. 253) at Stony Creek was applied for in 1871.[9]
Francesco was a sponsor at the St Peter’s Daylesford christening of the son of William Bersica in 1864. In 1866, while Rappacioli was living at Daylesford he donated 1 shilling 6 pence to the funds for the relief of the wounded, and the families of the wounded, after Italy’s wars of independence.[10]
Notes
A later generation changed the name Rappaciolli to Repacholi in 1931.
- I, FRANCIS MARTIN REPACHOLI, of Kondinin, in the State of Western Australia, farmer, heretofore called and known by the names of Francesco Martino Rappacioli, give public notice that on the 30th day of October, 1831, I formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the use of my said baptismal names of Francesco Martino and my said surname of Rappacioli, and then assumed and adopted in lieu thereof the Christian names of Francis Martin and the surname of Repacholi, and further that such change of names is evidenced by a Deed Poll dated the 30th day of October 1931, duly executed by me and attested and enrolled in the public office of the Registrar of Deeds and Transfers in Perth on the 17th day of November, 1931.
