The Eureka 2009 Luncheon was held at the Old Colonists Club Ballarat. The speaker Julie Bishop MP was welcomed by the Mayor of Ballarat, Councillor Judy Verlin. Dorothy Wickham of Ballarat Heritage Services presented her newly published Women of the Diggings: Ballarat 1854. Four women who had published items or books about Eureka women attended the luncheon. Clare Gervasoni (The Eureka Encyclopaedia, Outbreak at Eureka, The Eureka Flag, The Story of Eureka, Eureka Research Directory) Val D'Angri (The Eureka Flag), Laurel Johnson (Women of Eureka), and Dorothy Wickham (Women of the Diggings, The Eureka Encyclopaedia, The Eureka Flag, The Story of Eureka, Eureka Research Directory, Deaths at Eureka, St Alipius) are all passionate authors who illuminate the human and social aspects of the Eureka Affair. Val and Norm D'Angri made the beautiful table decorations that celebrated women of Eureka. The tombstone of Bridget Hynes is shown on the epitaph like centre piece. This tombstone explains how Bridget hid her husband's pike and pants so he could not participate in the battle. The stylised Eureka Flag used as the centrepiece for tables during the luncheon depicted the faces of women on both sides.
