Background

Zilles was born in 1825 in 1826 at Maintz, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. He arrived Victoria 21 August 1853.[1] on the Wilhelmsburg.[2] Zilles married Mary Finegan at Ballarat in 1861.[3] Conrad Zilles died on 06 August 1887 at Ballarat, and was buried in the Ballaarat New Cemetery [4] aged 61.Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag

Post 1854 Experiences

He is thought to have settled around Creswick in c1853 to c1858, moving to Linton from c1866 to c1881, and Ballarat from c1881 to 1887. [5] Zilles was the licensee of the Adelphi Hotel (Now Golden City) in Sturt Street, Ballarat. [6]
