Background

Alexander Bartholomew was born on 22 May 1813 at Falkirk, Stirling, Scotland. He married Jean Shanks at they had six children. The family traveled to Australia on the fever ship Ticonderoga with two daughters dying during the journey. Bartholomew died on 22 January 1895 and was buried in the Ballaarat Old Cemetery.[1]

Bartholomew was a juror at the Eureka State Treason Trials. He was a juror at the trial of Raffaello Carboni on 21 March 1855.[2]
