Goldfields Involvement, 1854
Albert Hurd was from the United States of America. He was arrested on 26 October 1854 in connection with the Ballarat Riot (burning of Bentley's Eureka Hotel). Eventually the case was dropped against him because of 'back stair influence" of 'half American, half Masonic' character.[1]
