Obituary

The death occurred on the 17th August, at his residence, North Carlton, of a very old resident of Melbourne, in the person of Mr. Patrick McCarthy. The deceased, who had reached the ripe age of 82 years, was a colonist of 60 years standing, having arrived in Melbourne at the age of 22 years. He took part in the memorable Eureka Stockade riots, and his death removes another of the few remaining links which bind the present generation to those stirring times. R.I.P. [1]

Mr. Patrick McCarthy, who died in Mel bourne recently in his 82nd year, was present at Ballarat on that historic occasion when Peter Lalor and Co. begged to differ with the animal with the ears.[2]
