Background

Mary Walker was born c1830 in Halifax, England. She was married in 1846 in Halifax, Yorkshire, England to Francis Ackroyd.

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Alfred James was born to Mary and Francis Ackroyd on 2 October 1854 in Ballarat. At that time Francis was a 33 year old gold digger from Halifax, England and they had two other living children. Ackroyd (Ackeroyd) was a miner who was inside the Eureka Stockade when the battle occurred on 3 December 1854.

Post 1854 Experiences

He was one of the pioneers who celebrated the 50th anniversary of Eureka in 1904. At that time he was living in Shepparton. [1][2]
