The deceased was a carpenter by trade, and arrived in these colonies be-fore the Eureka riots. He took an active interest in the early mining of the Ballarat and Sebastopol districts. He was a man of unassuming character, and was widely respected. He leave as widow, three sons, and three daughters to mourn their loss.
