Mr. Stephen Williams, who sheltered the late Peter Lalor after the Eureka Stockade, died last week, aged 94.[3]


Stephen Williams, who has for many years resided at Bruthen, died in the Bairnsdale Hospital, at the advanced age of 94. Considering his great age, he was a wonderfully active man, and up to within a few weeks ago was hale and hearty. He was well known in different parts of the colony, and at the time of the Eureka Stockade was one of those who helped to shelter the late Peter Lalor.[4]
