He was born at Merfield, [[England]], and in 1841 with his parents landed in Sydney where his father afterwards was a builder and contractor. The late Mr Jones, came to [[Ballarat]] during the goldrush. He was in Ballarat during the [[Eureka Stockade]] but took no part in the fighting. He speculated later in mining at Ballarat. Afterwards "he came to [[Derrinallum]], where he carried on business as a general storekeeper. He next went to [[Pomborneet]] where he carried on dairying for some years. CAMPERDOWN. DEATH OF A BALLARAT PIONEER.
The death is annoucced of Mr Richard Jones, at the age of 73 years. He was born at Merfield, England, and in 1841 with his parents landed in Sydney where his father afterwards was a builder and contractor. The late Mr Jones, came to Ballarat during the goldrush. He was in Ballarat during the Eureka Stockade but took no part in the fighting. He speculated later in mining at Ballarat.
