On the 27th September at his residence Massey, there passed away an old and highly respected resident in the person of Mr P Moore. He was born at Kilfenora County Clare Ireland, and came to Victoria with his parents, brother and sister in 1853 in the ship Sir Robert Sale. His brother Thaddeus Moore was mortally wounded in the Ballarat Riot in 1854. His name is now inscribed in the Lalor Monument in Ballarat.

Patrick Moore afterwards followed the occupation of carrier, going twice to New Zealand and continued the occupation successfully for some years.

Again returning to Victoria he took up land at Pomberneit where he resided for nine years. Leaving the Western District he came to Massey 36 years ago accompanied by his sister. The deceased married late in life and leaves a widow and four daughters to mourn his loss. The remains were laid to rest in the Watchem Cemetery on Thursday. The Rev. Father Reidy officiated at the graveside.
