Background
Patrick McGettigan was born around 1831 in Donegal, Ireland, and came to Victoria in 1853. His sister Ellen was born around 1840 in Donegal and died 1908 in Ballarat.
Goldfields Involvement, 1854
He was said to have been a shopkeeper during the Eureka fracas but not a part of it.
Post 1854 Experiences
His sister Ellen married Marmaduke Turner in 1861 in Ballarat when she was 21 years and Marmaduke was 29 years of age. A draper, he was born in Yorkshire around 1832. He arrived in Victoria in 1852 and in in 1874 aged 42 years in Ballarat. Ellen died 1908 Ballarat aged 69 years. Patrick went to New Zealand in 1867.[1]
