Background

Peter Henry Smith was from County Mayo, Ireland.[1]


Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Trooper John King climbed the flagpole inside the Eureka Stockade and tore it from the masthead. King gave the flag to Inspector P. H. Smith, who was a Mayo man. Smith died in Melbourne." Smith returned the flag to the King family. [2]

IN 1896 Peter Smith's wido was living in South Yarra.[3]
