Background
Maurice Linquist was born in 1826 in Sweden, arriving in Melbourne on 20 December 1853. He sailed on the Lady Franklin which left New York via Calcutta. Linquist was an auctioneer who operated near James Bentley's Eureka Hotel.[1]
Goldfields Involvement, 1854
Linquist was a witness examined during the report of the Board appointed to enquire into circumstances connected with the riot at Ballarat, and the burning of James Bentley's Eureka Hotel. [2]

Maurice Linquist was married to Josephine. There children are:
1. Charles (b. 1862 at New York, USA)
2. Maurice Ferdinand (b. 25 June 1869 New York, USA. Medical doctor in Buffalo, New York and later New Haven)
3. Edward (at Connecticut, USA)[3]
Thirteen year old Swedish born servant Augustus Eastermann lived with the Linquist family.v
