Obituary
- Mrs. Mary Ann Carroll, a colonist of 75 years, who died (at Gordon on Monday at the age of 85 years, arrived at Ballarat in 1851-the year of the gold discovery-and she claimed to have assisted her husband in the care of diggers wounded at the Eureka Stockade, among them the late Mr. Peter Lalor. She remembered seeing, as a child, the arrival in Melbourne of the white man Buckley, who lived so long with the aboriginals.[3]
