Background

John Keenan married Ann Keogh in Melbourne. He died on 26 September 1898, and was buried at Majorca Cemetery.[1]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

John Keenan was present in the Eureka Stockade and was shot in the leg early during the battle. Some insurgents carried him to where some horses were tied up hiding Keenan among the litter between the horses and the manger. He was not discovered in this hiding place.[2]
