John Blight

Background
John Blight was a baker in Plymouth, England who emigrated on the Ellen leaving Liverpool in July 1852. John Blight and Susan Blight were married in Stoke Damerel, Devon, England on 11 August 1844. They arrived in the Colony of Victoria in December 1852. There is an interesting and romantic story of their journey by Sue Reid. [1] Susan and John Blight had six children: Nell born 3 January 1853, married John Harvey; Jane Watson Blight, married William Glover. John and Susan's death certificates record six children while John Blight's obituary records only five children. (Edith Louisa Blight had predeceased him in 1878). [2]
