Background

John Le Maitre married Mary Ann Milledge in 1859. They had a family of twelve.[1]

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Jean Le Maitre ran a general store at Eureka. He was engaged in a carrying business between Geelong and Ballarat, owning many drags and wagons.[2]

Post 1854 Experiences

According to descendants John Le Maitre provided material to make the Eureka Stockade. He befriended Peter Lalor after he was wounded and became a good friend. [3]
