This is to certify that we pressed on the above date a horse branded JH-JNI, belonging to James McDowall, for the services of the diggers under arms. By order of Commander in Chief, A.A. Black, Secretary.''

Jame McDowall gave evidence during the 1855 Goldfields Commission. He had a horse taken on 02 December 1854 and was given a note stating Eureka Camp. December 2, 1854.
