Harry Lorenzo De Lonville was born at Fort Askansas, United States of America.

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

Harry Lorenzo de Longville took an active part in the reform movement, and was a member of the Ballarat Reform League. [1] He was on sentry duty in the Eureka Stockade on 03 December 1854, and claimed to have fired the shot that alarmed the diggers.[2]

Post 1854 Experiences

De longville attended the 50th anniversary of Eureka which was held in Perth in 1904.[3]

Obituary

Henry Lorenzo de Longville. 87 years of age, who was one of the men who fought with Peter Lalor at the Eureka Stockade, died at Claremont, West Australia, last week. On the morning of the attack, December 3, 1854, he was on sentry duty and gave the alarm to Lalor's men when he discovered the military advancing in the darkness of the early morning. He took pact in the jubilee celebrations of the Stockade, which were held in Perth in 1904. In 1876 he received a decoration from the French President for gallantry in saving the entire crew of a French ship wrecked at Port MacDonnell, South Australia. He was born at Fort Askansas, U.S.A., and came to this country with one of the first groups of Californian miners who travelled to Balllarat.[4]
