Background
Dennis Keys was born in 1804 in Kilkenny, Ireland. He was a storekeeper in Ballarat, and the informant on the death certificates of Edward McGlynn and Thomas O'Neill, who were both killed as the result of the Eureka Stockade battle.[1]

Dennis Keys signed a letter to the Colonial Secretary written on behalf of Ballarat Catholics complaining at the treatment of Fr Patrick Smyth's servant, Johannes Gregorius.[2]

Dennis Keys is possibly related to John Keys who was sponsor at the christening of a child of Hugh Brady and Margaret Baker.
