Obituary

Weston.— At Cathcurt. on the 19th December, Charles Corrie Weston, Esq., P.M., chairman of the Ararat Bench of Magistrates.[1]

Charles Corrie Weston, Esq., late police magistrate at Ararat, aged 39 years. On the 11th October 1861. at his residence. No 24. Harrington square, London.[2]

We learn from the Ararat Advertiser that the funeral of the late Charles Corrie Weston took place on Saturday last, at 12 o'clock, when the procession, which consisted of a large and respectable body of the towns-people, followed by nearly the whole of the police force, left the Commercial Hotel for the cemetery. On its way through the town, the various places of business testified their respect for the memory of the deceased, by the closing of their doors and windows while the cortege moved past. The Rev. Mr Homan being absent, Mr Mockler read the burial service of the English Church; and in the presence of those amongst whom he had so long resided, the remains of the deceased were consigned to the tomb.[3]
