Dr Dorothy Wickham with Peter Butters wrote the history of the Ballarat Old and New Cemeteries and Crematorium. This book was available for research at the Ballarat New Cemetery, and was the earliest available information about the Ballaarat Old Cemetery burials. It is handwritten presumably by the first Sexton, James Ethersay. The photographs were taken around 2006 and some are not the best quality, but they have survived and are a record of the early Ballarat burials and so have been preserved here. The index is alphabetical and describes the pages following. The burials begin in 1847, prior to the official start of the Cemetery in 1856.[1]
There is some annotating and referencing in the book such as some pencilled "known grave" or red biro or ink. It is not known who wrote or annotated this register.[2]
These photographs have been added to the wiki because they contain names of people associated with Eureka.
