Background
Margaret (Gellatly) and her husband Alexander McKenzie Allen had emigrated from Scotland on the Flora in 1852. Alexander died in September 1899 and was buried at Mount Egerton Cemetery.[1]

Alexander and margaret had three children:
1. Esther Ann (Ballarat 1855);
2. Georgina Rennie (1858 Ballarat);
3. Mary Bathgate (1861 Ballarat). [2]
There may be another child - Margaret Ann Allen (birth unknown. Died 18 April 1854 at Eureka).[3]
