About Ballarat Heritage Services

Ballarat Heritage Services is a specialist publishing firm researching, writing and designing publications and reports within heritage, education and tourism fields. Ballarat Heritage Services, established in 1998 by directors Clare Gervasoni, Wayne Phillipson and Dorothy Wickham, create award winning publications.

Ballarat Heritage Services offers research and consultancy on a wide range of heritage related services. BHS Publishing hosts a wide range of authors including Dr Ian Clark, Barbara Manly, Dr Justin Corfield, Valda D'Angri, Dr Anne Doggatt, Dr Ann Gervasoni, Roy Huggins, Elaine Murphy, Dr David Nichols, Wayne Phillipson, Dr Keir Reeves, Michael Taffe, Dr Dorothy Wickham, Clare Gervasoni, and others.

Dr Dorothy Wickham is a professional historian, archivist, researcher and teacher. She writes a regular history column in the Ballarat Courier and contributes to a heritage spot on ABC Regional radio and Voice FM. Her vast experience in archives, working for the Public Record Office Victoria, University of Ballarat and Ballarat & Queen's Anglican Grammar School has enabled her to research minority categories within welfare and goldfields histories. She has compiled many indexes, written many books and peer refereed articles. She specialises in social and cultural history of the goldfields with specific interests in Eureka, early female refuges, prostitution, migration and freemasonry.

Clare Gervasoni is an experienced museum curator and former art teacher. She has authored and co-authored many books on Art Education, pre-1900 Italian speakers (Swiss/Italian) in Australasia, early European migration, Ballarat School of Mines, and aspects of early goldfields history. Clare has curated Camp to City at Castlemaine Art Gallery, Cuthberts Lawyers at Art Gallery of Ballarat, and numerous exhibitions at the university of Ballarat Post Office Gallery. She contributes to a regular heritage spot on ABC Regional radio.

Wayne Phillipson is a master jeweller who has designed, created and manufactured the Goldfields range of jewellery. This includes tools such as gold pans, shovels, and picks of sterling silver and 9 ct gold jewellery with 9 ct gold "nuggets". The Eureka Flag range is also a product of Wayne's creative skills.
