Background
Goldfields Involvement, 1854
Bryant was dangerously wounded during the riots at Ballarat, and was not heard of after the battle. His English relatives initiated an enquiry into his whereabouts in August 1854. Henry Foster replied that Bryant's whereabouts were not known, and many unidentified men were killed. Foster admitted to burying five unidentified men himself.[1]
