A piece of blue cloth cut or torn from the border of the Eureka Stockade Flag was in the possession of William Bradford. The remnant, held by the Gold Museum, included a hand written note - 'This piece of cloth is part of the original Eureka Stockade Flag. It was given to me by my Father W. Bradford who had it given to him by his Father W. Bradford Snr. who fought now in the now famous struggle for freedom at Ballarat, Victoria in 1884. (Signed) J. Bradford. [1]
