- Mr. Michael, Victor Cunningham, an old colonist, died at Tyaak, near Broadford, on Friday, at the advanced age of 89 years. In the early forties Mr. Cunningham fought as a lieutenant in the war between the United States and Mexico, and came to Victoria in 1851, and was a pioneer on the Ovens, Reedy Creek and Bowman's Forest gold fields; being the discoverer of the. latter. He witnessed the Eureka Stockade fight in Ballarat. For 20 years he was mining registrar at Reedy Creek. During later years he followed grazing pursuits, and was a large landholder.
