Obituary

Our Creswick correspondent writes:—“l regret to have to report the death of. Mr Michael Martin, sen., which took place at his residence, Smeaton, at a late hour on Tuesday evening. Deceased was born in 1825, and was thus in his seventieth year. For upwards of 30 years he lived in the Smeaton district, and was highly respected. Daring the last 10 years he had greatly suffered from ill-health, and a more than ordinarily severe attack about three weeks ago ended fatally, though Dr Corry did what he could for the sufferer. The funeral is ap pointed to take place on Thursday (this) after noon, leaving the residence of the deceased, Smeaton, at 1 o'clock for the Creswick Cemetery.” Amongst those who sent wreaths to the funeral of the late Mr John M’Cormack, reported in The Star yesterday, were the officials of the Ballarat East Post Office, and the committee of St, John’s Church of England, Scarsdale.<ref>Ballarat Star, 14 March 1895.,/ref>
