Letters written from NSW goldfields 1850-1870

  • Note The "NSW goldfields" referred to the Port Phillip District of NSW as well as NSW as we now know it, so that there may be items of interest in this manuscript collection of NLA. The Colony of Victoria separated from NSW in July 1851, but much of the administration was still referred to Sydney NSW. For example, there was no Supreme Court in Victoria in 1851, so that cases (Like that of murderer Patrick Kennedy) had to be referred to a higher Judge in Sydney.
