James Fraser

Background

James Fraser was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He came to Victoria in 1850 on the Gambier with her sister Mary Faulds and brother-in-law Matthew Faulds. They were among the first to mine on the Eureka Stockade site.

Goldfields Involvement, 1854

James Fraser was one of the two men with James Scobie, the miner whose murder many say, sparked off the sequence of events that led to the stockade massacre.
